This type of sheathing has a few minuses that must be taken into account when working with them:
- Like any tree, MDF does not like moisture, with the exception of waterproof panels. As a result of the impact of moisture on wood mold and fungus may occur. Therefore, they are not recommended to use to finish bathrooms, saunas. Because due to excess moisture they can deform. If the ceiling is plugged with water, it will be unsuitable for use and you will have to redo repair completely. For premises with high humidity, the use of PVC panels will be relevant.
- Unlike a tree, MDF is easily damaged by stitching objects. But for the ceiling it is not scary.
- Quickly flammable. Therefore, during its installation, it is necessary to use corrugation for wiring, which will protect the panel from sparks.
Ceiling panels have several varieties. White panels that do not have any finishes are inexpensive. Shiny glossy surface will be more expensive. Each view has its advantages.
With a sponge coating
Such panels are not cheap. In the process of their manufacture, a natural tree is used, which is used for facial coating of material. The appearance of MDF panels is no different from wooden products. Flower palette, as well as texture imitates wood. But if you look good, immediately shows the difference.
The dimensions of MDF sheets are selected depending on the width and length of the ceiling. Such panels will greatly look and serve for a long time in the living room or bedroom. But in the bathroom or in the kitchen, they will quickly lose their kind.
Ceiling waterproof panels have a laminated surface. They are covered with a polymer film with waterproof indicators. The technology of their creation is largely similar to the manufacture of laminate, so they are considered one of the most durable. Such panels are made in the form of an artificial coating under a stone or tree. Because of their moisture resistance, many use such panels in the kitchens. Compared to the veneer they are much more practical and cost cheaper.
Some of the cheapest MDF types are painted panels. They, in contrast to laminated panels, no protective film. Therefore, they are often used to finish residential rooms, where they will be easy for them to care. Such types of panels are both matte and glossy. Have a big color gamut. This is yellow, and white, and blue and others. Panels are perfectly combined with other materials.
These panels have on the front side of the paper. Apply in dry rooms because moisture is very afraid. For example, on verandas, in residential premises. They are very easily installed, driven under any ceiling parameters. Panels are very in demand due to low price.

Tips for mounting
Deciding with the type of panels, you can go to the installation work. Be sure to make a list of everything you need to finish the ceiling and make the right calculations so that there are no many waste at the end of the work. Preparing the ceiling will not take much time. After all, it will be enough for this only to check, so durable its surface and remove excess plasters. If the ceiling is painted and in good condition, it can not even touch it.
Next Stage – Preparation of Tools. The first thing you need is marking materials. This includes level, student line and simple pencil, as well as tape measure more than three meters to make it convenient to measure the ceiling.
You also need to choose tools for installing a frame under the panel. Be sure to take the scissors for metal, perforator for setting the frame, screwdriver for fastening parts, iron profiles or wooden bars for the frame, as well as screws of different lengths. For facilities, the base of the ceiling will be needed by MDF panels, plinths for finishing, as well as all sorts of connectors and plugs
Next you can start markup. To do this, around the perimeter of the room you need to make a line, retreating from the ceiling by 4-10 centimeters, depending on the unevenness of the ceiling. Be sure to determine the special device where the wiring is. After you need to note the pencil, where it passes, so that in the process of work does not hurt her.
The next step is to drill holes in the wall with an interval of 30-40 centimeters. For this you need to apply a perforator. The profiles are attached with screws throughout the room. After that, another profile is fixed right in the middle of the ceiling. For this, its ends come into the side design.
Only then the central profiles and profiles around the perimeter with the same sequence are connected. If all the parts are not enough, then the remaining area is filled with trimming with special connectors. All stages of the frame design must be checked using a level so that when finishing the ceiling there were no problems. All that sticks out of the frame, you need to trim with the help of metal scissors.
The next step will be the fastening of the rails on the ready frame. To do this, the extreme rails are attached to the profile with the help of screws at about 30-40 centimeters – one element of the frame will account for one slack. If the room will be insulated, then it is at this stage that the layer of insulation is stacked.
After that, you can proceed to the installation of MDF panels, which are attached by inserting the spikes in the edges of the panel. The first element is attached with a screw or nail to a spike to the corner of the wall. Then all these shortcomings will close the ceiling plinth.
The next panel is installed in the groove in front of the standing and attached to the kleimer on the reverse side. In this way there is a covering of the entire ceiling. But do not forget about the places where lamps or lamps will be located. As soon as the panel will be fixed in the required place, you need to bring out the wires. The last step is the installation of ceiling plinths. Of all this we can conclude that the installation of ceiling panels is not more difficult than wall.
MDF panels can be used in different rooms. In order for such an interior addition to the general picture, you need to use as an example of the idea of real masters of your case.
