Materials and tools

If there are no finished bearings, pick up a pair of metal tubes and steel pins of suitable diameters. This will make not very high quality, but homemade bearings. For the “plywood” machine as a suspension of the pendulum lever, good loops used for fastening doors and wickets will fully come.
In any case, the pendulum lever itself is better made from a metal corner or metal profile. But the holder in which the ESM will be fixed will certainly be made from a wooden bar.
For reliable and tight fixation of the grinder in the holder of the bed, it is better to attach a soft and durable material. For example, leatherette. And press the ESM to the holder is more convenient than all flexible metal ties with a screw knot. Such widely used in plumbing and auto repair.
The bed is best made from a thick sheet of metal. Compromissions are possible, up to thick plywood, fixed on a wooden bar frame. It is good to provide on the desktop the possibility of fixing the stubborn angles under some standard corners to the axis of the cut. So we get a “troting saw”.

General principles are quite obvious. The simplest and most used machine is the transformation of the handmade grinder to a stationary pendulum saw. This design consists of a bed, racks and a pendulum lever, hinged on the rack.

Very hard in itself, such a profile allows you to construct a hard and durable bed. More importantly, the pendulum lever made from such a material is almost no bent when working.
But the frame of the bed – it is only half. Over the frame, you must impose a “tabletop” – a plate on which the material processed will be placed under the grinder.
If the frame is collected from the metal, the best material for the desktop will be a metal sheet. However, the thick sheet of plywood or chipboard is also quite suitable. Just do not forget that directly under the disk of the grinder in the table top it is necessary to provide a fairly wide slot, providing a pass-through disk stroke through the cutting material.
Vertical rack is a very loaded node of the pendulum saw. The use of a metal profile will create a solid and hard design.
When using metal as a base element, the machine should be preferred by welded connections. Of course, metal products can be connected to bolts.
But such compounds do not provide the necessary rigidity.
Caria of pipes and shock absorbers

The pendulum node is still needed to bring the tool into the plane of cutting. But the carriage, moving along the pendulum lever, allows you to significantly expand the range of material sizes. Now you can cut off quickly and definitely not only pipes, profile and timber.

But even if you have a compact Bulgarian with a disk with a diameter of only 150 mm, you can still cut the sheets with a width to 200 mm. This is more than covered by most everyday tasks.
When designing a “guide – carriage” node, on the basis of car shock absorbers, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the shock absorbers themselves are quite thin and easily impaired. To the top lever of the pendulum, such “guides” should be attached to semicircular clamps. This will use water pipes.
Elements of wood
If there is no possibility to make the basic elements of the pendulum saw of metal, do not despair. Many structural elements can be made of wood. First of all it is a bed, a pendulum lever and the Holder of the USM.
The face can be made of any suitable lumber. Very good frames collected from solid and heavy wood bars of significant cross-section. They are durable and pretty heavy. This ensures the stability of the entire machine.
The bed, assembled from the oak bar with a cross section of 100×100 mm, of course, impressive. But it is too expensive. For the base of the desktop, thick bars of larch or even birch.
But for the manufacture of a pendulum lever, you can use noble varieties of wood, traditionally used in furniture production. Oak here will be quite appropriate.
Constructing a machine from a tree, do not forget about the overall rigidity of the design. Significant bed dimensions allow us to ensure the strength and stiffness of this part in the manufacture of not qualitative materials from.
Pendulum lever has a long, elongated design. If you do it from a tree, its geometry can be unstable when the temperature and humidity changes.

Details of plywood
An interesting solution of the problem of rigidity can be use in the wooden structure of plywood. The multidirectionality of the layer of veneer in this material gives a certain stability of plywood sizes. The fact that the product consists of a plurality of thin layers, connected by durable glue, provides strength.
Plywood is great for the manufacture of mills and desktops. When designing it is necessary to take into account that plywood is very strong and stable in the plane of the product. But the plane itself may experience deformations. Therefore, plywood products should be mounted on hard frames.
A good example of the design is the assembly of elements from many layers of plywood with intermediate sickness and tie bolts.
It turns out very durable, rigid and stable designs.
As with the handling of any electric tool, electrical safety rules should be followed. Cannot work in high humidity facilities. When installing the machine on the street, it is advisable to build over the workplace at least a temporary canopy to protect against precipitation.
Like any cutting tool, ESM, even fixed in the machine, requires strict compliance with safety. Completely unacceptable work without protective casing around the disk. As well as the use of protective glasses or transparent shield.
