Each domestic master dreams of a large number of electric helpers in his home. Drill has long become almost a mandatory attribute, because with its help you can unsolve the wall or the solution to knead, but also make an ordinary meat grinder of electrical, use as a mixer or to build a fan. Therefore, the appearance of various brushes for a drill as nozzles is quite natural: such devices greatly facilitate the life of a homemade master.
Device and assignment of nozzles
Almost any nozzle is a rod that is inserted into the holder (cartridge) drill. On the other hand, the rod is actually nozzle. If the nozzle is made for other tools (for example, the grinder), when the rod does not fit, use adapters, as well as adapters. Such a replaceable device, like a nozzle, it is important to carefully fix in the cartridge.
Brushes nozzles have one or more appointments:
- grinding of different types of materials (metal, wooden, concrete);
- purification of metal products from scale and rust (Krestovka);
- removal of old paint;
- polishing various types of surfaces (wood, glass, metal, lacquer coatings);
- Removal of fluxes on concrete at the time of floor alignment.
Varieties of brushes
Depending on the purpose and type of surface treatment of the brush are divided into several types.
- Polishing.
- Grinding.
- To remove contaminants with smooth surfaces or from hard-to-reach places.
- For brushing wood.
- Processing welding seams.
According to the material used are divided into the following types:
- metal;
- foam;
- abrasive-polymer nylon;
- abrasive lamellar emery;
- Felt.
At the same time, for the manufacture of brushes is used:
- steel wire if required to treat a metal surface;
- Steel wire in the form of a corrugation, having different rigidity, determined by the diameter of the wire;
- Boot from steel – has an increased hardness and self-drawing effect;
- stainless steel for working with stainless steel and aluminum;
- brass wire for cleaning and grinding soft metals (bronze, copper), wood, plastic texturing;
- Polymer abrasive – abrasive pile based on, for example, silicon carbide used for finishing, roughing, texturing, edge rounding.
Forms of nozzles
No matter how different brushes, but they are all round. The shape of a brush for a drill has a fairly wide range.
- Radial, flat – for grinding metal, cleaning in hard-to-reach places, for example, in pipes.
- Plate really on the form resembles a plate. Release plastic or rubber with glued sandpaper for stripping, polishing or grinding. To be able to keep the drill strictly over the treated surface, such a nozzle is attached to a pin with an adjustable angle of fasteners.
- Cylindrical (rams) – Used for narrow pipes on small and medium sizes. In addition, such conical nozzles are used for grinding or polishing jewelry or other accurate work.
- Disk (circular, oval) – Flat metal nozzles for processing large areas during repair or construction. Twisted steel threads can cleaned welding connections (seams and joints), carefully polish surfaces. The bristle has directions from the center to the edge of the disk.
- Cups (bruster) – The presence of the container of different diameters is distinguished, into which very rigid steel wire is pressed – it can be of different lengths – either a nylon pile, flooded with molten plastic. Such brushes are used to clean OKLIN, paint removal from surfaces, removal of concrete fluxes – irregularities, as well as for brushing wood.
- Drum – are a cylinder with attached sandpaper for polishing iron surfaces. And it may be foam rubber (felt), microfiber for more delicate wood processing, glass, metal.
- Ferry (lamellar) brushes – This is a disk with attached plates of sandpaper, located perpendicular to the surface. Such an abrasive nozzle is convenient to clean and grind the surfaces of various geometry, as it is able to change its own shape when working drills.
- Petoles – these are cylinders to which metal abrasive pile. Used to remove paint, rye, burrs, polishing, cleaning, brash.
- Conical – are something mean between disk and cup brushes. Designed to remove severe pollution, paints, Okalin, burrs.
All these devices created for stripping, grinding and have a strong effect on the surface through a rigid nozzle, got the name of Krestovka or a crucifier (cordshche).
Features of use depending on rigidity
Depending on the functions performed, the nozzles may be rigid or soft. As a rule, soft use to polish, finishing soft material stripping. It can be a foam rubber of different thickness, felt, microfiber for jewelry or sisal. Sistelle brush looks like a twisted rope attached to the cylinder or disk. Natural coarse fiber from palm leaves well completes wood processing after brashing (parting). Felt polish paintwork coatings or bring metal to shine.
Synthetic nylon is used in intermediate surface processing. It is important to prevent overheating when working – the polymers are quite quickly starting to melt.
Iron brushes – the most rigid. And the thick of the wire, the more difficult work will be performed. The main cross section of the wire is about 5 millimeters. Corrugated and soft brass are used for ultimate processing. Thicker 5 millimeters – for initial processing.
Choice
When choosing nozzles for a drill, you need to determine the purpose of this purchase. If the work has a lot and it is diverse, for example, removal of paint from the walls, brashing, grinding, polishing the floor, that is, it makes sense to buy a set of different shape and rigidity. Such sets are sold in ordinary building stores. Their choice is great both at the price and quality. The main thing is not to buy individual power tools: it is enough to buy nozzles or adapters.
The practicality of such a purchase is determined by the large variability of brushes: for any surface, hard-to-reach places, from any material. But it is not necessary to forget that home drill is not an industrial tool, so effectiveness will not be perfect. In addition, it may not be an adapter for some kind of nozzle, there is no power, the number of revolutions.
Why sparkle brushes electric motor drills
In any electric motor stand graphite (coal) brushes. With constant friction, the mechanism is erased, with the result that graphite dust settles on the collector. From this and begings begins. As a result of abrasion, the brush takes place – this is the second reason. If this happened to your drill, then it will increase the revs or the electric motor may not turn on. Third reason – improper installation of brushes in the brush node.
After dismissing the drill and visual verification of the grooves of the brush node, you need to make sure that the device can still be used. I sparkle is also possible when the stator fails, the circuit of the collector’s contacts due to graphite dust, contamination of contacts by Nagar. In some cases, cleaning the brush node will help, and in others – the replacement of brushes or springs of the brush holders. Replace the wider item will not present labor, and the drill will serve in the same mode.
Work with a drill safe
Sometimes the fulfillment of simple rules save not only health, but also life. Therefore, when using a drill with a nozzle need:
- make sure that the brush is chosen correctly for the selected type of work;
- securely secure the rod into the drill cartridge;
- hold the drill with two hands;
- At the beginning of our work, try the brush on a small surface, so as not to damage it;
- regulate pressure;
- Until the drill stopped completely, do not include reverse mode;
- After turning off the drill, do not touch the complete cooling to the brush and the rod to avoid burn;
- Be sure to use personal protective equipment: gloves, glasses or mask, respirator when grinding, cleaning, polishing.
