With the onset of the cold autumn-winter season, the problem of choosing heaters for dachas or country houses becomes particularly acute. Most often such a house is not connected to centralized utilities such as gas or hot water pipelines, so that at subzero temperatures outside the window it is simply impossible to be in it.
To help make your country home comfortable in the winter, we have compiled a rating of the 15 best heaters for cottages.
How to choose a heater
When choosing a heater, it is enough to pay attention to two parameters – the type of device and power.
There are five types of heaters, which can be used at the cottage or in the country house:
- Oil radiatorsStructurally similar to conventional ones, only they use, as the name implies, circulating oil as the coolant. They are characterized by good efficiency, mobility, quiet operation and optimal energy consumption. Electricity is used to heat the oil only after it is turned on, and then the unit simply maintains the temperature.
- Electric convectorsAre also similar to conventional radiators, only for heating they use current. Air naturally flows through them. The main advantage of such convectors is the ability to accurately set the temperature.
- Infrared radiatorsare similar to the sun on the principle of work – they do not heat the air, but the objects in the room. Thanks to this, floors and walls will not be cold. True, the air is slightly colder than the objects in the room, so the use of such heaters will require the habit of.
- Thermal fans– powerful heaters that provide artificial convection of hot air. Thanks to this they quickly increase the temperature in the room. However, these heaters are a heavy load on the power grid and are quite noisy when working.
- Gas convectorsSimilar to electric, but uses propane flame for heating. They work quickly and efficiently, and most importantly, they can be used in homes not connected to the power grid. But such convectors are undesirable to use in closed rooms.
Thus, the choice of heater directly depends on the needs of the user. If you want to heat a very cold room, or to warm up quickly, you can use a heat fan or a gas convector. In small rooms will be enough to place oil radiators. But for homes with permanent residence, where you want to maintain a comfortable temperature, are designed electric convectors and infrared radiators.
The power of heater depends on the efficiency of heating. For different types of devices, this parameter varies, but on average the following relationship is established – every 1000 watts (1 kW) can heat up to 10-15 square meters of space.
That is, for a room of 12 m
Which heater is better – oil, infrared or convector type?
Difficult to compare these heaters because of the different principles of operation. However, some general performance characteristics can be highlighted:
Parameter | Oil radiators | Infrared emitters | Convectors |
Noise level | A slight crackle after turning on | No | Generally no |
Fire safety | If the operating conditions are fulfilled – high | Safe | Electric – high, gas – above average, requires compliance with safety rules |
Ability to set the temperature gently | No | Medium | The electric heaters have a high |
Effects on Air Quality | Reduces oxygen, increases dryness. The room needs to be inspected | No | Electric – no; gas heaters – decrease the amount of oxygen, increase dryness |
Stress on the electrical household network | Above average | Average | Above average |
So, each of the heaters has both advantages and disadvantages. Choose the right one carefully and carefully.
We have made a rating of the best heaters of all types, so that it will not be difficult to find the right one.
