Best Camping Sleeping Bags
Alexika Summer Wide Plus
Rating: 5.0

Let’s be honest: Alexika Summer Wide Plus is the best camping sleeping bag on the market at the moment. Yes, it has a lot of weight, equal to about 2.2 kilograms. Yes, the dimensions in the folded state are also not conducive to ergonomic transport (33×25 centimeters). However, everything, from the top layer to the last lock here is made with a large share of thoughtfulness, which is much more important than the transport comfort.
In fact, the Summer Wide Plus is the first and last full-length single-wide bag, so you can wrap up in it like a standard blanket. It is designed for a height of 195 centimeters with a decent 100-cm margin of width in the shoulders and legs. The outer and inner sides of the lining here are made of the standard set of polyester fabrics (190T and 190T Diamond RipStop), but between them there is a not quite typical cotton “layer” with an APF-Isoterm 3D 200 (2×100) g/m insulation
Now let’s move on to the most important things. Despite the fact that this sleeping bag is positioned as a strictly summer camping model, its thermal capacity limit ends at -13 degrees Celsius, and the range of comfortable temperature varies from 2 to 7 degrees. And if we take into account that the price of this sleeping bag is comparable to that of Husky Mini, the questions about the legitimacy of giving the first place vanishes by itself.
Advantages
- great price;
- The high quality of finish and materials used;
- a powerful insulation, designed for significant temperature differences;
- very large size when unfolded (under the height of 195 centimeters).
Disadvantages
- High weight (although it is compensated for by good heat resistance).
Marmot NanoWave 45 Reg
Rating: 4.9

In terms of performance Marmot NanoWave 45 Reg is almost identical to its Husky Mini counterpart, differing from it only in a more modest range of comfortable temperatures. Both liner layers of the cocoon bag are made of water-repellent polyester which is not mated to the membrane material in order to ensure the effective one-way drainage of moisture from the inside. However, this is not so important for a summer sleeping bag..
…such as the weight figures, with which Marmot NanoWave 45 Reg is perfectly all right. When folded, its dimensions are 28×15 centimeters, which adds only 820 grams to the weight of the backpack. In terms of size, the unfolded sleeping bag is designed for taller people, giving plenty of room for the shoulder girdle and legs (around 80 and 50 centimetres respectively). Being identical to the above-mentioned competitor, NanoWave 45 Reg still wins due to its lower price, for which it takes the second place in the final rating.
Advantages
- attractive price;
- low weight (only 820 grams);
- high quality finish;
- a good selection of overall dimensions.
Disadvantages
- poor thermal performance.
Husky Mini (2008)
Rating: 4.8

A full-fledged camping sleeping bag from Husky that earns its place in the ranking by the excellent workmanship and accompanying performance indicators. Despite of the prefix “Mini”, this sleeping bag has a considerable length and width reserve (220x85x52 centimeters), which makes it flexible for users of different height and build. The comfort range here is from 8 to 12 degrees Celsius, while the extreme temperature value is close to -3 degrees. These figures will not be a great salvation from the possible cold early spring and late fall periods, but they will definitely bring their benefits.
As consumers note, despite more than 10 years of production history, the Husky Mini has still not lost its relevance, but it has significantly increased in value terms. However, do not make a big deal out of the current price – in relation to the quality of this purchase looks one of the most promising, even among today’s competitors.
Advantages
- good performance characteristics;
- Quality finishing of the bag with nylon and filling it with dense synthetic warmth-keeping material;
- high quality workmanship;
- optimal dimensions.
disadvantages
- Not the most comprehensive set of temperature ratings.
Tramp Night
Rating: 4.7

The very lightweight and yet cold-resistant Deuter development is a recognized leader in the segment of sleeping bags for summer trekking. From its nearest competitors Astro 250 differs, first of all, by its tuning to keep warmth at the temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius with rather modest range of comfort indexes. This is thanks to the careful selection of materials aimed at maximizing heat retention inside the cocoon with simultaneous drainage of excess moisture (“breathing” function). The down insulation is in this case RDS certified natural down.
Dimensions Deuter Astro 250 is for people with height of 1,8-1,85 meters and width of shoulder girdle (maximum) up to 75 centimeters. It is also noteworthy that this sleeping bag weighs the least of all the others: it weighs only 820 grams. This is an excellent index of weight for a long and long hike involving various kinds of difficulties of the route.
Advantages
- Very small weight (820 grams);
- Good heat retention inside (down to temperature extremes of -10 degrees Celsius);
- High quality workmanship (natural down padding);
- Optimal size in unfolded and folded states.
Disadvantages
- not identified.
Alexika Mega
Rating: 4.8

Inexpensive trekking sleeping bag belongs to the category of summer gear, designed for use at temperatures as low as 0 degrees Celsius. It perfectly copes with the functions of comfort and protection against natural factors, for which it is rightly used by a large number of domestic tourists. With dimensions of 230x80x55 centimeters, its weight is only 850 grams, thanks to the use of a lightweight synthetic fabric. Exterior and Interior Lining
Despite the abundance of pluses, users have one major complaint, relating primarily to the rigid seasonality of the sleeping bag. The fact that overnight stays at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius are very unpleasant and risky. Thus, to apply
Advantages
- low weight (850 grams) and transport dimensions (29x18x18 cm);
- low cost;
- Good appearance, quality materials of manufacture;
- durability of use (subject to compliance with the rules of use).
Disadvantages
- very limited temperature conditions (comfort – +14°C, limit – +8°C, extreme – 0°C).
The best expedition sleeping bags for winter hiking
Husky Proud
Rating: 4.9

The Husky Proud sleeping bag is the “golden mean” among all the models reviewed, for which it logically receives such a high ranking of the best. Its positive features are not only neat appearance, but also optimal size combined with nominal temperature ratings. The length of the customized “cocoon” is 215 centimeters, while the width of the shoulder girdle and in the legs are 85 and 52 centimeters, respectively. Such figures will allow most consumers to squeeze into a sleeping bag, as well as reliably insulate the warmth inside thanks to the well-chosen system of ties.
As for the temperature regimes, the comfort of the user reaches the peak of -13 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the polyester-nylon lining with a synthetic heater allows the bag to keep warm up to -29 degrees (point of extremum) – above this threshold will be ineffective. in terms of transportation the Husky Proud also shows good sides: the weight of 2.25 kilograms is not a big problem for an experienced forwarder. The only nuance standing in the way of thoughtless purchase is the cost level. However, this feature is common to all products under the Husky brand, so do not blame the individual model in the excessive cost.
Advantages
- optimal combination of price and quality;
- optimal temperatures (suitable for the autumn-spring season);
- The ideal dimensions of the bag (215x85x52 cm);
- Pretty low weight (2.25 kilograms).
Disadvantages
- are not revealed.
Alexika Aleut
Rating: 4.8

The main feature of the spacious winter sleeping bag from Alexika is a combination of two important concepts: providing full protection from various adverse factors, and the most comfortable conditions of use. The first factor lies in the Protective Shell technology – a comprehensive approach to the production of the facing layer, which includes work on the moisture-repellent, windproof and at the same time “breathing” functions of the bag. The second concept successfully uses the Soft Space technology, combining both the elements of the formation of the “cocoon”, taking into account all anthropometric features, and the selection of materials for its inner finishing.
As for the dimensional characteristics, then Alexika Aleut presents several surprises at once. First, its width (at the shoulder girdle) is an impressive 95 centimeters, which is very good for the harsh winter period. Second, the length of the bag is limited to 190 centimeters – seemingly modest, but the vast majority of consumers will fit. Perhaps the only drawback of this sleeping bag is its heavy weight: it weighs 3.4 kilograms without providing an impressive gain in terms of temperature extremes (-26 degrees Celsius). For example, the same

- good dimensions (190×95 centimeters);
- acceptable level of cost;
- Ability to hold temperatures down to -26 degrees Celsius.
