The best desktop mini projectors

The first selection presents five examples of projectors that are essentially stationary, but are easy to transport and quick to adapt in a new location. They are compact, weighing only a few pounds, not dozens of kilograms like real stationary projectors.

TouYinGer T4 mini

Rating: 4.9

TouYinGer T4 mini

The first in this selection will be the most inexpensive option of those that can be considered workable. The projector costs less than 10k. I can’t afford to spend too much money for this kind of device. Here the creators of the model successfully embodied simplicity, good quality and minimal, but sufficient for many tasks functionality.

Projector dimensions – 218x88x172 mm, weight – 1.2 kg. Two stereo speakers with 2 watts each are built in. Not bad plastic body, discreet design, universal for consumer electronics. Operating principle is light emitting diode (LED). Nominal stated lamp life – 30K. hours in economy mode. In normal mode, the service life is halved, but in terms of the real average time of using the projector per day, it will suffice for a confident few years.

The projector generates 2400 luminous flux, which is very good for such a cheap and simple model. Contrast is also decent – 1500:1. Screen resolution – 1280×720 16:9. Projection Distance – 1.20 – 3.80 m. Recommended image sizes for optimal perception – from 0.76 to 3.81 m. Focal length – 126mm.

HDMI, VGA, composite and RCA “tube” inputs for audio are provided for connection of source devices. There is a mini jack 3 audio jack on the output.5 mm. There is also a USB port on the classic Type A slot card reader for full-size SD cards.

The projector is powered by the network through a regular outlet. That is why it is, even though it is a “mini”, and is positioned on many marketplaces as a portable, but it fully can not be considered as that. The best proof of that are some users’ complaints about the power cord being too short.

Advantages

  • image quality;
  • contrast;
  • powerful light output;
  • card reader;
  • nice appearance;
  • The most affordable price in the selection.

Disadvantages

  • short power cord.

Everycom X9

Rating: 4.8

Everycom X9

Next we propose to get acquainted with another good mini projector. This model is twice as expensive as the previous one, but it still stays in the budget category. As for features and functionality, they are worth the price difference.

Projector dimensions – 303x104x222 mm, which hardly, but still fits into the concept of “mini. Weight is also moderate – 2.3 kg. Here too uses a similar stereo pair with the same power as in the previous model – two speakers 2 watts each. What unites these models is the principle of action – LED, and similar in characteristics, the lamp is designed for the same 30 thousand hours.

The light source here generates a more powerful light flux – 3500 lumens. Significantly higher contrast ratio of 2500:1. These two indicators can already say a lot about the quality of the picture. Image resolution – 1280×800 with aspect ratio of 8:5. Projection distance – 2 to 3.87 m. Recommended projection sizes – from 1.52 to 3.81 m in width. Distance to screen to projection size correlates as 1.2:1 – 1.2:1.

The set of interfaces here is twice as wide as in TouYinGer T4 mini: two HDMI video inputs, one VGA input, component input, audio input on RCA jack (“tube”) – the same audio jack is on the output; and two USB ports on the classic type A sockets. If you critically need Wi-Fi, you need to check availability of the module at the point of sale before buying, because different modifications can differ just by its presence.

On the whole, the reviews on this model are mostly positive, but only from those who took the trouble to carefully calibrate and adjust the projector before using it actively. In the state right from the factory the project can blur on the edges of a full frame, give some distortion of shades. But these points are critical only in rare cases, and for domestic use such tricks are not necessary.

Advantages

  • picture quality;
  • brightness;
  • contrast;
  • powerful light flux;
  • reliability;
  • set of interfaces;
  • Wi-Fi.

Disadvantages

  • the most diminutive;
  • Requires presetting and calibration.

DIGMA DiMagic Cube

Rating: 4.7

DIGMA DiMagic Cube

The third number in our review, we will consider almost the exact opposite of the previous model. DIGMA DiMagic Cube could well be considered pocketable, if not for its shape. Otherwise, it’s a mini projector, portable in every sense, including in terms of autonomous power.

The shape of the projector – almost regular cube with rounded corners. Dimensions – 61x64x62 mm. Weight – only 0.34 kg. Housing is plastic, mostly black with bright red design artifacts. A considerable part of this rather modest volume is occupied by a stereo pair – speakers with 2 watts each.

In terms of image reproduction, you can’t expect superpowers from this model, because it is designed for maximum mobility, when the conditions for presentation can be anything. So consumers shouldn’t be confused by paltry specifications like 50 lm of luminous flux. At this microscale this is quite sufficient.

At 50 lumens the contrast ratio is 1000:1, which is equivalent to an “average” IPS matrix, of course, with some reservations about ambient light. The manufacturers measure contrast in near perfect darkness, when even the surrounding objects and walls absorb maximum stray light.

The resolution of this model is also very limited – 854×480, but it’s quite acceptable for an image size from 0.25 meters, as the manufacturer recommends. The maximum recommended size in width is up to 3.05, but it’s already questionable just because of the small resolution, unless the viewer’s position will be away from the screen at a great distance, when the pixels will already be indistinguishable.

Such a seemingly simple device is based on quite powerful electronics. So, it has its own 1GB of RAM, as well as 16GB of internal memory for the shell and data. USB interface on type B socket for connection. The output is mini jack 3.5 mm audio output. There is a Bluetooth wireless communication module.

This projector can run on batteries up to 3.5 hours. A micro-USB connector is provided for charging the batteries. It’s possible to use the projector for its intended purpose and charge it at the same time – a big plus for portability and flexibility of use.

The projector can be controlled by means of an advanced remote control of Airplay type with an interesting spatial approach to the control of objects.

Advantages

  • miniature size;
  • Not a bad contrast for such a light output;
  • autonomous power supply;
  • ultraportability;
  • luetooth;
  • attractive appearance and the concept as a whole;
  • Airplay remote.

Disadvantages

  • limited performance.

Xiaomi Mijia MJJGTYDS02FM

Rating: 4.7

Xiaomi Mijia MJJGTYDS02FM

Next in the selection is a very good mini projector by Xiaomi, which was another successful experiment by Xiaomi in terms of creating their own version of anything. It depends on stationary power supply, but its size allows us to consider it conditionally portable.

The projector dimensions are really modest, 150x150x115 mm, as well as its weight of 1.3 kg. The design is classical in the spirit of well-known to all amateur projectors for diafilms. Because of the intention to minimize the manufacturer supplied the projector only one speaker.

The projector principle is LED. Standard lamp has a resource up to 30 hours in power-saving mode. The generated light output looks a little pale in all senses against the background of stationary models – 500 lm, but you have to remember that for this format is quite acceptable. Contrast ratio in its purest form – 1200:1, which is not bad, but this figure is achievable only in perfect blackout conditions.

The characteristics of the resulting projection image are as follows. Optimal projection distances from 1 to 4 m. Optimal for the perception of the projection size in width – from 1.02 to 5.08 m. Distance to screen refers to projection size as 1.2:1 – 1.2:1. Maximum resolution of the “picture” – F

    lHD 1920×1080 with 16:9 aspect ratio.

    The set of interfaces here is expectedly minimal: only HDMI on the input, audio mini jack on the output. There is also a USB port on the classic type A socket. The developers were pleasantly surprised that they spared neither Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth in this model.

    This projector with all the listed advantages and still deserves high marks for compatibility. It supports HDTV, 3D display format, Smart TV. All the software runs on Android OS.

    From the disadvantages, the most annoying perhaps, is the absence of official global firmware. English interface is available, but it doesn’t help much, as many connected services are in the same Chinese. This problem can be solved, but will require some knowledge and assiduity, or the help of a specialist.s

    Advantages

    • Miniature size and weight;
    • F projection resolution
        l HD;
      • Not bad image quality for such parameters;
      • contrast;
      • Reliability and reliability;
      • HDR10 support;
      • SmartTV support;
      • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

      Disadvantages

      • No global firmware;
      • it “needs” standalone power supply.

      ASUS ZenBeam S2

      Rating: 4.7

      ASUS ZenBeam S2

      We are going to finish the first half of the Best Mini Projectors review by Expertology magazine with the most expensive ASUS model. The name hints at how this model belongs to the prestigious Zen family of ASUS electronics. Based on DLP technology.

      The projector is tiny – 120x35x120 mm and weighs about 500 g. This model is no longer dependent on a wall outlet, having its own built-in battery. The principle of operation and characteristics of the light source is similar to the above model: LED-lamp with a lifetime of 30 thousand hours. hours in economy mode generates a luminous flux of 500 lm with comparable contrast.

      Projected image resolution – 1280×720 with 16:9 aspect ratio. HDTV and 3D video are supported. Projection distance varies from 1.50 up to 3 meters. Recommended comfortable and appropriate image size – from 1.52 to 3.05m in width. Distance to screen size is referred to as 1.12:1 – 1.12:1. Like almost all projectors in this class, ASUS ZenBeam S2 is able to automatically adjust the focus and basic image characteristics.

      As for the interfaces, there is the necessary minimum and even a little more: HDMI, USB Type-C, audio jack 3.5 mm, Wi-Fi wireless module. Two 2W speakers built-in. You can use the projector as a power bank to charge your gadgets via USB Type-C.

      A few words about autonomy. This projector comes with a rather high capacity 6000 mAh battery. That’s not bad, should be enough for 3-3.5 hours of use. This is the maximum length of a full-length movie or an extended presentation with interruptions, so that for the needs of work or entertainment is more than enough.

      This model goes on sale in a quality premium packaging, which itself can replace the gift. A nice bonus package – carrying bag. The opinions of users are mostly positive, and only a small part lack the resolution of at least F

        lHD 1920×1080.

        Advantages

        • brand;
        • The quality of materials and assembly;
        • autonomy;
        • autofocus and autotuning;
        • Wi-Fi;
        • Reliability and durability;
        • Quiet enough operation;
        • stylish package.

        Disadvantages

        • Relatively modest resolution (less than F
            lHD 1920×1080).

          The best mini pocket projectors

          Let’s move on to the second part of our review of the best projectors according to Expertology online magazine. Here we will look at five models that already fully fit into the category of mini projectors in the pocket form factor.

          Everycom S6 plus

          Rating: 4.9

          Everycom S6 plus

          Let’s start with the most inexpensive version, which for such an affordable price offers the user surprisingly impressive features and functionality.

          First of all, it should be noted that the size and shape of this model resembles a smartphone. With a body size of 81x18x147 mm, the projector weighs only about 250 g. The design theme is clearly and openly present in the imitation of the classic smartphone style – the proportions, the combination of plastic and metal, distinctive materials. The most important advantage of the projector – the use of DLP technology with Laser-LED light source.

          The luminous flux of the Everycom S6 plus – 1500 lumens. Contrast is pretty decent – 2000:1. It’s even in “laboratory” conditions, but still noticeably better than common LED models thanks to the laser with its saturation, precision and minimal beam divergence angle.

          Maximum projection resolution – 854×480. The laser here performs its role quite well, providing clarity and saturation. Projection distance according to the passport – 0.35 – 5 m. Recommended image size – from 0.51 to 3.81 m.

          Separately worth mentioning is the projector’s ability to correct keystone distortions. This feature is not available in all versions of Everycom S6 plus. The amount of RAM can serve as a benchmark. Coming modifications with 8, 16 or 32 GB RAM. The youngest with 8GB trapezoidal distortion can’t correct, the other two do it automatically.

          As for interfaces, this model has a surprisingly many options, as far as they fit into the miniature case. So, here we have HDMI input (for some modifications); mini jack output 3.5 mm for audio; two USB ports on a classic Type A socket; a card reader for full-size SD flash cards. There’s also wireless connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.

          Separate explanation about the HDMI interface. In versions with 8/16GB RAM, HDMI works like a set-top box. On models with 32GB RAM, HDMI can be used to connect the projector to a PC or laptop, game console and other compatible devices.

          With this mini projector it would be OK if not for two circumstances. First, the built-in battery lasts on average an hour of use. And for the most thorough setup you need a tripod. These two circumstances greatly reduce the portability, which at first glance because of the format seems the most possible.

          Advantages

          • DLP technology with a Laser-LED lamp;
          • image quality;
          • contrast;
          • “smartphone” form factor;
          • materials and design;
          • luetooth and Wi-Fi;
          • Miracast support;
          • card reader.

          Flaws

          • weak battery;
          • low brightness.

          DUNE HDaveler

          Rating: 4.8

          DUNE HD<tr></div><p>aveler” src=”/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/18416666195891-5910.jpg” height=”400″ title=”DUNE HD</p><tr>aveler”><p>Now let’s take a look at the pocket mini projector</p><tr>The DUNE brand is famous for its set-top boxes that are not bad, handy and functional. Here we talk about the projector, a miniature and ultra-portable, but with good functionality. In fact, the device combines the functions of a projector, media player, set-top box, compact speaker system and powerbank.<p>DUNE HD exterior</p><tr>The aveler is a compact box with dimensions of 112x28x112 mm in a modest plastic case with rounded corners. Weight – about 330g. The lamp produces 600 lumens, which is not bad for such a small size. The 3500:1 contrast ratio is also quite commendable. The claimed lamp life is about 30 thousand. hours.<p>Perhaps the most painful moment in this model is the resolution. Figures of 864×480 pixels look pretty mediocre, and here we should always keep in mind the fact that this is an ultraportable pocket projector, from which you can not expect the capabilities of stationary models for such a price. Projection distance of 1.2-1.3.</p><p>Even in such a tiny projector the developers had to resort to active cooling – a compact fan on the radiator is installed. If the projector is just on, you can hear the fan sound. But you only have to turn on the content with sound and even regular speakers will completely drown out the cooler.</p><p>For all outward modesty, this projector is built on a very decent electronics base. Amlogic S905X quad-core CPU with Cortex A53 cores at up to 1.5 GHz. Graphics Module – Ma</p><li>-450 5-core. 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of built-in memory. The built-in 7500 mAh battery looks impressive only in comparison with smartphones. Realistically, with the average consumption of a full charge will suffice for an hour and a half, and this is also the weak point of the projector.<p>The general conclusion on this model is mostly positive, both for experts and for the majority of simple users. The narrowest point from a technical point of view – resolution, in practice shows itself not so bad as it is expected. The picture is very clear, bright, contrasty, and not necessarily at minimum distances. No jerking in dynamic scenes either.</p><h4>Advantages</h4><ul><li>not bad image quality for such resolution;</li><li>high contrast;</li><li>wide functionality;</li><li>usability;</li><li>Android;</li><li><b>Bluetooth and Wi-Fi;</li><li>simple but nice design.</li></ul><h4>Disadvantages</h4><ul><li>autonomy;</li><li>low resolution.</li></ul><h3>Acer C202i</h3><p>Rating: 4.8</p><div style=Acer C202i

          The third pocket projector in the selection has inherently certain credibility due to the famous brand. But a bit more in-depth study of the characteristics does not disappoint, and the forced limited resolution is spectacularly compensated by the expressiveness.

          Externally the projector is a miniature box of dimensions 150x42x150 mm and weighs only 350 g with laconic but stylish design. The package also includes a mini tripod, which is convenient to place the projector and physically control the direction of the flow of light.

          The matrix in this model is capable of a resolution of 854×480. And in this case the developers have achieved an impressive expressiveness of the picture thanks to the sharpness, record contrast and saturation. All this was compensated by small resolution to a great extent.

          Lamp in the projector creates a luminous flux of 300 lm. It has a lifespan of 20 thousand. hours in normal and up to 30 thou. hours in economy mode. DLP technology is implemented here at a high level, so that it was possible to achieve a record contrast of 5000:1. Projection distance varies from 0.70 to 2.90 m. Recommended projection sizes from 0.73 to 2.54 m. Distance to size refers to as 1.3:1 – 1.3:1. Focal length is 5.02 – 5.02 mm. With a frame rate of up to 60 Hz achieves televisual video smoothness.

          The set of interfaces here is very concise – HDMI input, audio output 3.5 mm, USB port with a classic Type A socket. In this miniature design creators even have a speaker, but, however, only one power of 2 watts.

          Users are for the most part happy with almost everything about this model – the quality of the details, the particularly high image quality with a record contrast, the stylish, modern design. Objective criticisms of the model does not cause, only separate complaints about the fact that it supports few multimedia formats when reading from a flash drive.

          One of the most striking features of this projector that many reviewers emphasize is the automatic projection geometry adjustment when the projector is on the side, not in the center of the screen. This “super feature” is not unique, but it’s found in rare models.

          Advantages

          • brand;
          • image quality and clarity;
          • the normal geometry of the image when installed on the side;
          • saturated shades;
          • high frame rate;
          • record contrast
          • stylish design.

          Drawbacks

          • few compatible media formats.

          The most expensive Vivitek model in this set will finish the review of the best mini-projectors according to Expertology magazine. It combines such qualities as pocket size, top assembly, image quality.

          Dimensions of the device – 176x28x103 mm, weight 460 g. The design is usual for modern electronics minimalistic, dominated by high-quality white plastic and brushed metal surfaces. Standard lamp for similar models – LED with a life of 30 thousand. hours. The principle is based on DLP technology.

          The projector generates 500 lumens and delivers a high contrast image of 5000:1. With a sensor resolution of 1280×720 pixels, this combination provides a high-quality image – clear, saturated colors.

          Projection distance for this model is 0.70 – 3.70 m. Recommended projection sizes from 0.48 to 2.54 m. Distance to image size in width refers to as 1.66:1 – 1.66:1.

          The set of interfaces is the widest for such a compact projector: HDMI video input, composite input, audio input with RCA socket (cinch), “mini jack” 3 audio output.5 mm. There are also two USB ports on the classic type A sockets. Wireless connectivity – Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. There is even a card reader.

          The projector software runs on Android OS with support for Smart TV, HDTV and other popular standards.

          Concerning its direct function – projecting quality images – this model is perfect. Some flaws hide in the details, and with minimal effort they can be minimized or eliminated. For example, the built-in media player software does not read many formats. Solved simply – by installing another player, but not for everyone it is obvious. What is really objectively uncomfortable – poor sensitivity of the remote control – from the side of the line of sight can work worse.

          Advantages

          • top quality materials;
          • the quality of the assembly;
          • high resolution;
          • Record contrast;
          • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth;
          • card reader;
          • nice design.

          Disadvantages

          • Minor flaws in the OS and software;
          • Poor remote control sensitivity.
