The motherboard – the most important module of any PC, which determines almost everything – what processor can be installed, what memory, what additional features can be used for certain purposes. There is a separate class of motherboards that inherently have a significantly higher life span on any parameters than “motherboards” for ordinary work. We are talking about boards for professional gamers, and today’s Expertoogy review will focus on them.

All top rated gaming motherboardshave a list of common features:

  1. passive cooling;
  2. 24-pin main power connector;
  3. AMI BIOS with disaster recovery tools;
  4. EFI support;
  5. No IDE controller is provided;
  6. Four-channel memory mode;

          Supermicro X11SPM-TF

          Rating: 4.6

          Supermicro X11SPM-TF

          The Expertology rating of the best Expertology gaming motherboards concludes with a model that our reviewers have deliberately included in order to meet the needs of potential customers who, for whatever reason, are limited by the choice of a minimal-sized motherboard. This model is made in microATX form factor.

          this board uses socket LGA3647 (Socket P), is built on Intel C622 chipset, supports Intel Xeon Scalable processors. A single 8-pin connector is provided to power the processor. DDR4 DIMM or RDIMM RAM with speeds from 1600MHz to 2666MHz can be installed. Crucially, the gaming motherboard is only compatible with ECC memory. A total of six slots for RAM modules and has an unprecedented maximum capacity of possible memory installation – up to 768GB.

          The drive controllers are organized as follows: SATA with 12 6Gb/s slots; Intel C622-based RAID controller with support for levels 0, 1, 5 and 10; one M-slot.2 PCI-E 3.0 x4, 2242, 2280. Two PCI-E expansion slots for 16 lanes and one for 8 lanes. PCI Express 3 is supported.0.

          In terms of built-in sound, in this selection is the only model where there is no integrated sound subsystem, and the card must be purchased separately. But there is a built-in graphic adapter Aspeed AST2500, but in the context of a gaming motherboard this is a weak advantage, because most likely to play a full-fledged game you’ll have to buy a discrete and much more powerful video card.

          The built-in networking capabilities are pretty impressive: two Intel X722 and Intel X557 controllers provide two 10Gbps Ethernet links each.

          USB interface set includes 11 ports, 5 of which are standard 3.1, and 2 of those are on the rear panel. There are also two classic COM-ports, D-Sub.

          Included are two SATA cables and a rear chassis plug with ports.

          Advantages

          • microATX form factor (an advantage for those who need it);
          • extremely high memory capacity upper limit;
          • Two high-speed Ethernet network ports.

          Disadvantages

          • natural limitations due to atypical form factor.
