Varnish is a material used to finish the car body in order to give a more pronounced color of enamel (matte or glossy) and protect the metal from corrosive, chemical, thermal and small mechanical effects.
Today’s market offers more than 100 different autolacquers, which creates a problem of choice for every consumer. That is why the editorial staff of Expertology magazine asked for help from experienced users and masters of paintwork. Based on their evaluations, a ranking of the 6 best varnishes, suitable for professional overcoating of car bodies and individual body elements was formed.

ROBERLO 350 HS 2+1 (1,5 l) E
Rating: 4.9

The third place in the rating is taken by Baslac 40-40 2K professional topcoat, which can overcoat the base paint of a car body to any freshness. It is recommended to apply it in two layers with a total coating thickness of 50 to 70 μm with little exposure and blowing between the first and second treatment. If these uncomplicated conditions are met, the nominal performance will be guaranteed: both protection from chemical/mechanical effects and long-term preservation of the appearance properties.
Remarkable, Baslac 40-40 2K can be dried under infrared. Moreover, manufacturers are urged to finish the process of application of drying just under the infrared emitter, because in this way the preparation of the coating will take only 8-15 minutes (instead of 24 hours at a temperature of 20-25 degrees Celsius). Unfortunately you have to pay dearly for the innovation: the cost of the kit (varnish + hardener) will cost users more than the analogue from the company

PPG D880 HS
Rating: 4.6

G D880 HS is a product used to repair car bodywork. It contains acrylic and polyurethane resins which make the cured coating resistant to many types of dirt and chemical influences. The Mobihel Anti-Scratch HS is a high-tech resin-based lacquer, which makes it very resistant to a wide variety of dirt and chemical influences.
According to the testimonials of users, PPG D880 HS is very easy to create original surface textures. Mixing the lacquer base with various components (composite mortars, hardeners, plasticizers, etc.) could easily lead to a higher ranking in the industry.d.), it is possible to achieve a reduction or an increase in gloss, gloss, mattness; to give the body surface a leather texture or a fine dusting. If it were not for the strict requirements for the pre-painting treatment of painted metal, this product could easily claim a leading place in the ranking of the best.

Mobihel Anti-Scratch HS
Rating: 4.5

The main quality to like Mobihel Anti-Scratch HS is its better resistance to minor scratches and chips, which inevitably arise in the course of using the car. Slovenian company Mobihel succeeded in creating a sturdy and reliable lacquer based on acrylic resins which, when applied, guarantees protection from minor mechanical damage, fading of the paint layer, as well as corrosion of the body metal. There is one drawback: the high price, which makes this product less attractive to a wide range of users.
When it comes to application, Mobihel Anti-Scratch HS is not as demanding as PPG D880 HS – there are no specific requirements for the treatment of the bodywork. But the consumption can not please people who are particularly sensitive to the budget: to ensure quality coverage should be applied varnish in 2-3 layers. The work itself on covering the car body is quite fast: the soaking of the composition in layers takes only 15 minutes, and the final hardening takes 2-3 hours. Thus, users are faced with a difficult choice between price and quality…and more often than not the second component, as well as this varnish, is inferior to cheaper and more budget-friendly competitors.

KROY 2K CLEARTEX HS SCRATCH RESISTANT
Rating: 4.4

The sixth position in the rating of KROY car lacquer is due to the scepticism of the experts concerning its main prescribed function. The manufacturer claims that the applied composition is immune to scratches that arise from the mechanical effects of the environment, and retains its pristine appearance for a long time. In reality it turns out to be much more modest: 2K CLEARTEX HS does provide protection, but during the test sand-blasting process the lacquer loses its gloss before all the competitors.
As to the convenience of application, then there are no complaints to the composition. The manufacturer recommends to apply it in two layers with a short exposure time (about 15-25 minutes) to ensure maximum adhesion first with the metal, and then with the freshly applied surface. Complete drying of KROY 2K CLEARTEX HS occurs at a 24-hour exposure time, but it is possible to accelerate this process by increasing the ambient temperature to +60 degrees Celsius. Then the preparation time is reduced to 30 minutes. In general, the composition shows itself decently, but bold and false statements about the features, coupled with the low prevalence in the market does not allow to claim the leading position.
