What has helped people to gain worldwide recognition? Desire to develop in any way. How to increase your educational level today, expertology will tell you. The key is to have access to the Internet, which opens up access to libraries and educational sites.

What are the benefits of self-education?

How to enjoy being alone

Self-development refers to actions aimed at the full development of the individual without a teacher.It includes 3 components:

  1. Self-affirmation.Suggests actions to find and confirm specific personal qualities, behavioral patterns and their changes.

  2. Self-improvement.An aspiration of a person to acquire new qualities, professional competence in a new kind of activity.

  3. Self-Actualization. Aimed at finding a destiny, identifying and realizing one’s natural potential.

The psychological function of self-education is the ability to get out of your comfort zone. Acquiring new information raises self-esteem, makes people interesting interlocutors. When improving one’s professional competencies, one can qualify for a higher position and receive moral bonuses. Nurturing qualities of character, the ability to overcome laziness and ineffective habits allow you to be proud of yourself. Self-taught:

  1. deepen knowledge in different directions;

  2. Develop connections between related sciences;

  3. expand the intellectual, creative, emotional intelligence;

  4. overcome the inertia and conservatism of thinking;

  5. Form a new worldview paradigm;

  6. Improve memory and thinking skills.

Levels of autodidactics

There are different kinds of self-education. If the household involves learning skills for household needs, the cognitive expands the general outlook.The result depends on the level:

  1. The first involves out-of-system learning under the influence of external causes;

  2. The second is a situational interest in the subject;

  3. Third, systematic lessons to build up knowledge.

In people who choose the highest level, self-development becomes a psychological need and is often exploratory in nature.

What you choose?

Life offers two ways for everyone: self-improvement and development, or degradation and idleness. The choice depends solely on the person and respect for self. Those who consider themselves individuals strive for sociocultural and informational development. It determines behavior, communication and career success, and gives insight into oneself and life.

A person is born to develop and find meaning in life. Preoccupation with physical survival alone limits one’s interests and inevitably leads to degradation. The lack of aspirations for perfection, knowledge, cultivation of new habits, qualities of character, mastering of activities makes life gray and boring. Compare how your acquaintances live:

  1. Some are fixated on their careers, and constantly attend training and self-education;

  2. Others improve themselves physically, leaving “seven sweats” in the gym;

  3. Some are obsessed with travel, photography, and language study.

Some go to jobs they don’t like for years, go with the flow, look for someone to blame for their failures. A poll in 2020 showed that 40% of Russians almost never engage in self-education. About a third find time to develop. Of these, 17% train their minds once a month, 16% study every day. At the same time, 73% are ready to take qualification courses to find a well-paid job.

What limits development?

The 5 causes of insecurity and how to overcome them

Most people are ignorant. What prevents you from becoming smarter and more interesting today, when there are many sources for self-education, when there is no need to go to the reading room and look for information by yourself?. Instead of watching a movie in the evening, why not listen to a lecture? They refuse to accept new information, or they deny it because they believe: if I don’t know, it doesn’t exist. Many people naively believe that the knowledge gained at school and college is enough for life. The fact that they are outdated, supplemented, and changed is of little interest. There are other reasons.

  1. Laziness. Why bother, if you can have a rest?? Allotted energy for business and education goes to watching movies and playing games.

  2. Habits. It is easier to give up a goal than to change an orderly way of life with repetitive actions.

  3. Doubts.When a person asks himself 10 times: “Why do I need it??”Doesn’t even have the intention to set a goal. Only professional competition or envy of successful colleagues can make one develop.

  4. Lack of willpower.Many do not understand that quality must be pumped like a muscle. If you do exercises in the morning or can resist the temptation to have a midnight snack, you have developed it. The rest have to work on themselves.

  5. Lack of motivation.A man is able to move up a mountain, if he knows why he needs it. It is directly related to the ability to set goals.

  6. No discipline.People understand that they are not organized inside and the endeavor will fail because of their inability to keep routines, and they don’t set super-tasks.

One of the key fears is change. Fear of the future is inherent in everyone. People mistrust novelty and doubt its necessity. Recall that the steam engine was called the spawn of hell, afraid to ride the locomotive for fear that when driving at 40 km / h panic attacks will begin. Today, it’s hard to imagine life without an electric train going 230 km/h. People’s mental processes develop in a similar way. New neural networks build high-speed highways to knowledge and success.

Self-Study at Home

It yields no less results than attending lectures at the university. If you are planning to study for general development, start by attending seminars and workshops in person. You will get into the flow of energy, and you will immediately get involved in the process. Educational sites, thematic literature and training videos are available to assist you. Online methods allow you to study at your convenience and regulate the intensity of your workload. If you want to learn a foreign language, a related profession, knitting, becoming a designer, an accountant, start now.

If you have decided to change your profession or improve your qualifications, sign up for distance learning. You will have to study the material on your own, through lectures and e-books. After you have completed each module, your knowledge will be tested.

Self-education will fill the gaps in various disciplines and applied art. If you’re serious about developing, then:

  1. Read popular science and fiction books.It is easy to find a selection of books on different subjects in the digital library.

  2. Watch videos and trainings online. Correctly type in a search query – and choose a lesson by popularity.

  3. For learning a foreign languageUse apps for beginners and pros alike

  4. You’ll have to study the material yourself
  5. ngo. Nothing prevents you from communicating with native speakers, practice speaking with foreigners on Skype.
  6. To accelerate learning, parallel oLearn speed reading, blind typing, and memory training.

Find your learning method. For some, memorization and listening to audio lectures is effective; for others, outlining and imaginative thinking.

Draw the wheel of life

Draw a wheel of life

If you have done the mental work and realized it is time to change, the first step in that direction has been taken. Future results depend on awareness of the need to develop and diligence. Convince yourself that “Gods do not burn pots” and move on to action.

First it is advisable to analyze your life in all areas, identify the lagging and pump up. Draw a circle and divide it into eight sections. Each of them is a value that makes you happy. After testing, decide your goals and figure out where to start. Sign each one:

  1. Careers & Business. Ask yourself if you enjoy what you do?

  2. Money.You are financially independent or living in austerity mode? Do you have enough money for financial independence??

  3. Personal growth.What is your educational background and what is your intellectual potential?

  4. Environment.What emotions and support does it give to communicate with friends??

  5. Family and Relationships.You have met your man, built love, had children, or everything is still in the plans?

  6. Health and Sports.Would like to become more physically attractive, lose weight, have a chiseled figure?

  7. Fun and Hobbies.How do you spend your leisure time, what ways do you use to accumulate energy?

  8. Fulfillment.How much of your life are you satisfied with, what is missing to be happy??

Rank each sector honestly on a 10-point system and dot it. If the score is below 5, don’t look for excuses, but recognize that there is a problem. Use traffic light colors for visuals. Highlight critical areas below 5 points in red, mark segments with 6-8 points in yellow. See how many sectors are in the green zone. Connect the dots and look at the shape. If you are in a circle, you have the harmony of your life. Crooked shapes are markers of your failures.

Two ways to plan

Develop two strategies: one based on goals without a deadline and one with a deadline. In the first case, do anything that gets you closer to your goal; in the second, make a schedule and set aside limited time for specific tasks.

Analyze one red area and set a realistic goal. At the bottom of the chart, write your intention and step-by-step strategy. Break down the global goal into smaller tasks: “I want to learn English at A1 level. In a week I learn 200 new words, 2 hours devoted to grammar.”.

If you are worried about being overweight, set a goal to lose 1 pound per week and ways to achieve it. Promise yourself that you will learn different eating and weight loss systems, replace eating habits with new ones. If there is a gap in education, manifest by reading 30-40 minutes of self-development books daily. Reinforce the skill and make it harder.

Optional:

  1. Make a list of important books and resources.

  2. Stay up to date on your topic of choice.

  3. Add a schedule of workshops, seminars, conferences.

  4. Master time management, and manage your time properly.

  5. Track your progress in your diary or with the help of apps (Degreed, Diigo), make reports for motivation.

Learn to learn

Use stimulating techniques to encourage activity: persuasion/ suggestion, encouragement. Train yourself to follow a daily plan 100% of the time. Without self-discipline you can’t achieve your goals. Be selective in your choice of information. Why waste time when you can read reviews, find descriptions, get a user level.

As you receive new material, ask yourself: “How can I use this in my business??”. Convert the information into specific goals. If, for example, you hear about game mechanics at a seminar, immediately use it to increase the number of comments on your social networking pages. This approach to learning will be a quest of sorts. You will dive deeper into the information, wanting to find the next clue.

Repeat what you have learned. It might take you an extra 20 minutes, but the information will be unpacked.Choose your own educational platform and broaden your horizons. Knowledge will help see new horizons and open perspectives.
