Cabrillo – one of the newest grades of garden strawberries. Due to its qualities, such as the high content of the necessary substances, including beta-carotene (vitamin A) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), versatility and high yield, is already popular with gardeners.

History of removal of varieties

American breeders of show and Larson worked on the creation of this variety of strawberries for several years. Cabrillo was created in 2008 by crossing some license plates of garden strawberries, which were brought by the same scientists early, and received its first name Cal 8.181-1, then it was replaced by CN236. Since 2009, in one of the sections of California, experiments were intensively carried out in order to multiply a new copy. Studies have shown a positive result – all varietal properties of the plant persisted during breeding. I finally convinced this, breeders began the procedure for registering strawberries under its official name Cabrillo. In 2016, the University of California received a patent for a new kind of garden strawberry appropriate for the title of the best.

Description of varieties

Strawberry has pretty high bushes that are distinguished by the presence of abundant thick foliage and their position (they are more reprehension). Leaves of small sizes, dense and soft, characterized by bright green color and special shine, similar to fat. As well as a sheet of sheet slightly concave and a little exacerbates closer to the edge. Plant possesses large snow-white flowers and high multi-chart bluers. Cabrillo releases a moderate amount of mustache, so there will be no problems with its breeding.

Timing of ripening

Cabrillo belongs to plants with medium fruiting. Blossom falls at the end of May – the beginning of June, and the first berries can already be collected in mid-July. Since this variety is removable, fruitful bushes are stable throughout the summer, and in the southern regions the last harvest can be obtained even in September.

Regions growing

This species in Russia began to operate quite recently, therefore there is no reliable information about its winter-resistance and creep to weather conditions. It is recommended to grow culture in places with a short summer, for example, in Siberia or in the Far East.

Yield

Depending on climate and care, the plant is fruit in different ways. The maximum amount of berries can reach 3.7 kg from one bush, but it is possible only due to the ideal agrotechnology, regular feeding and continuous supervision of the environment. In standard conditions and with due care, one unit brings about 1.5-2 kg of fruits.

Berries and their taste

This grade gives beautiful fruits that look very attractive. Each of them weighs 32 g, and separate specimens reach 50-60 g and more. The pulp is very juicy, dense, has a good consistency, and the yellowish seeds are only slightly in it are immersed. Berries of bright red shade with shinse reflections, in the cut color becomes darker.

Fruits are distinguished by an excellent aroma, more saturated than other varieties. The taste of the palette is impressive, sweetness is pronounced with thin tonic notes. It should be remembered that it is necessary to try berries only with their full maturation, otherwise the wonderful taste will seem mediocre.

Features of cultivation

Cabrillo is recommended to plant in late May – early summer. To get a quick harvest, it is better to choose to plant loose soil. As well as excellent results, the plant shows during the cultivation in greenhouses or film shelters, where tomatoes or potatoes were not grown before.

Saplings need to be located 30 cm apart from each other, and between the beds should be retained by a distance of at least 60 cm – this is due to the presence of the mustache and the root system of the Cabrillo variety. It is recommended to plant bushes towards from north to south, observing a chess order.

Choosing a place and soil preparation

This variety for its good maturation prefers fertile loose soils. During the selection of the landing site, it is necessary to pay attention to the excellent lighting of the bed, so that the plants do not cover the shadow, the area must be protected from strong wind gusts, have a good air circulation.

Before landing the place must be carefully prepared. First of all, it should be cleaned of weeds, add a bucket of compost or humus, can also be made about 300 g per square meter of wood ash.

It is important to remember that the crop when ripening falls on the ground to warn fruit from rot, it is required to carry out mulching with hay or sawdust.

Pollination

Strawberry Cabrillo has rolled flowers, so in additional polling processes it does not need.

Frost resistance

This grade tolerates winter weather, but still it is recommended for frosts on the occurrence of frosts, at least a layer of straw or napnika. If there is an opportunity, gardeners advise to cover strawberries agrovolok.

All about fertilizers for strawberries

One of the important techniques in the care of strawberries is the feeding. Regular fertilization makes it guarantees a rich crop. There are several different ways to feed strawberries and each of them is intended for a certain period of plant development. During flowering, fruiting and after it, the feeding must be different.

Diseases and pests

This kind of strawberry is not amenable to many diseases that is characterized by a set of other varieties of this culture. For example, malievable dew or spotty no harm carbill will bring.

But the phytoophluorosis of strawberries is not much stable, so at least several times in the season should be carried out preventive actions to avoid this disease.

A variety of insects can also attack the bushes, such as the word, weevil, strawberry tick. From such pests you can get rid of spraying plants by folk remedies, for example, decoction of velvet flowers.

Fighting diseases and pests

Strawberry is often subject to a variety of dangerous diseases that can seriously undermine its condition. Among the most common – malievable dew, gray rot, bright spot, anthracnose and verticillosis. Before buying a variety, it is necessary to ask him resistant to disease.

Reproduction

Can be breeding cabrillo in two ways.

The easiest is the use of the mustache. The shoots need to be separated in early June, after which it is for about 4 cm into the fertile soil in a depth, regularly watering. When small bushes are already formed, it is better to roam them in plastic cups, so the plant will more successfully adapt to the subsequent place.

Another method of reproducing this variety is the division. To do this, choose mature healthy bushes older than 3 years. The sharp object dissect on 3-4 parts with a normal root system and several sheets on each, after which they are immersed in the soil.
