The grade of pears Emerald has been bred by Ukrainian breeders. D. Babina, A. F. Mileshko, B. BUT. Yakimov in 2014. Since then, this variety has become widespread because it combines excellent taste, large-way, unpretentiousness in care. But in order to get, indeed, a good crop, you need to carry out the right tree care.

Description of varieties

Pear Emerald refers to the category of winter varieties. Much spread variety got in southern areas with a mild climate. But successfully grown in other regions.

In the height of the trees reach 5-6 meters, considered to be average. Krone has a round shape, the leaf is medium. Oval Form Leaves with Smooth Surface.

Fruit characteristic

Fruits are pretty large-way. Weight on average begins from 240 g, but can reach 400 g. Fruit shape is defined as barreloid. Skin color greenish yellow, places eating purple spots. Often they appear exactly on the places of sunlight. The flesh has a cream shade.

Taste qualities

Packet Pear is quite dense in consistency and juicy. A taste of sour-sweet, with tangible spice. After drinking pears in the mouth remains sweet aftertaste.

Ripening and fruiting

A distinctive feature of these pears is an annual fruit. The first pears can be tasted for 3-4 years after planting a tree on the site. It should be borne in mind that initially the amount of fruit may be insignificant. But then, as far as development, the harvest will begin to increase each year (subject to high-quality culture care).

Harvesting usually begins at the end of September or early October. At the same time, the fruits can be kept in the refrigerator until May next year.


Yield pears average, namely: 112 c / ha. But in certain years, the harvest can decline or increase depending on the impact of external factors, for example, weather conditions.


Emerald refers to thermal-loving varieties. That is why the tree is best growing and fruits in the southern regions, as well as in the North Caucasus. The cultivation in other regions is also possible, but in this case the weight of the fruits, their number and tastes may vary.

When choosing a place for growing pears of this variety, it is recommended to give preference to those sites that are more protected from the wind, and also on the course of the day the sun’s rays.

Growing and care

After the transplantation of a tree to the selected place, it must be watered under the root. Watering must be reduced or increased depending on the specific weather conditions.

Tree branches periodically need to trim. It is necessary to form a crown. If the crop is too big, under the branch you need to do special wooden backups. Otherwise, the tree branch can be simply broken under the weight of the fruit.

In the trees of this variety there is a tendency to self-pollization. Fatal varieties are: Bere Bosch, Maria, Yakimovskaya and some others.

Resistance to diseases and pests

A distinctive feature of pears of this variety is the presence of high immunity to the pasche. But with improper care, the tree can hit such ailments like root rot and sage fungus. From insects most often, sad trees are subjected to attacks.
