More often in the gardens you can meet annual begonias. Their delicate flowers dissolve already at the time when all other plants are just beginning to wake up.

Peculiarities

Any flower descene in the summer can make your home begonia on the terrace, a balcony or platform near the house where it will become an excellent landscape decoration. But if we talk about the garden varieties of Begonia, this is in most cases annuals, because in the conditions of our climate they cannot yearnogodically be in the ground. With the onset of the cold period, they are digging and stored until the onset of spring heat.

Garden Begonia refers to pretty compact plants. The height of the bush does not exceed 30 cm, so the flower is often used in mix bears and as a decoration of garden paths. Blossom is pretty abundant. Sometimes buds are so many that they are not even visible foliage.

Flowers size in a loose state – 5-15 cm. The texture may be a terry or semi-state, colors are diverse. Visually, depending on the variety, they resemble the flowers of Azali, small peonies or roses. Leaf plates bright green, form is usually asymmetric, edges of fine-grained.

Garden Begonia refers to moisthed cultures, prefers light half, although in recent years the breeders presented a lot of hybrid varieties. They grow well in conditions of high temperatures, and with reduced humidity. These colors are also terrible free frosts and tightening shower.

Some flower products are bred by bendies in pots, decorate them balconies or a porch of houses, And with the deterioration of weather conditions, they will be brought back to the residential premises. However, experts argue that such changes create a stressful situation for the plant. It adapts to the changed environment for a long time, so in our climatic strip it is better to immediately plant begonia for a permanent place.

Varieties

To date, there are quite a few kinds of garden begonias. In landscape design, several varieties are considered the most popular. Consider them in more detail.

Tube

These flowers differ rather long and abundant flowering, which lasts from the very first fewers of summer and up to the last decade of November. The height of the bush is 25-35 cm, the plant is distinguished by fleshy tubers and durable stems. Inflorescences can be terry or smooth, color variable (red, scarlet, white, pink, yellow). The size of one flower is 6-20 cm.

Ampery

These varieties are designed for growing in suspended porridge and high vases. Bust shoots are rather long (up to 80 cm), stems falling. Such varieties of begonia are great for decorating all sorts of vertical structures. They are well tolerated any temperature and retain their decorativeness even with the onset of light frosts.

Eternal Flowing

These are miniature plants height 15-20 cm. They are widely used for gardening landscaping due to unpretentiousness, abundant flowering and rich coloring (from milky white tones to bright purple and red shades). Oval leaves, with glossy surface. Their color varies from saturated green to brown.

Landing

Before landing, it is important to properly prepare tubers for moving to open areas. To begin with, they are cleaned of all rejected processes. If the bulb is large (from 5 cm), it can be divided into two parts. The location of the cut should be sprinkled with crowded activated coal. After that, the tubers are placed in a weak solution of potassium permanganate or any other fungicide to disinfection for 25-30 minutes.

All work with tuber needs to be taken carefully. It is impossible to drop the bulbs and put pressure on them, otherwise they can become unsuitable for germination.

After preparation, you need to put the tubers in a box with universal soil. Keep in mind that the Begonia’s club has a convex and concave side. When landing the bulb should be broken by the convex side, concave at the same time will be directed upwards. It is necessary to ensure that a third of the tuber remains on the surface. As soon as the first sprouts appear, it will be possible to fall asleep the landing material of the earth completely.

When flowers appear in the seedlings, it will mean that the plant is ready to transplant into open ground. For growing garden begonia, it is better to choose sunny weather, it is advisable to spend all work in the morning clock. So that the plant pleases you with its abundant bloom, you need to stick to the basic recommendations.

Planting garden begonia is better in place with a light shadow, because under the groaning rays of the sun, the leaves of the culture are yellow and dry. Scattered light will be enough to form a lush bush. At the same time, the plots on which the sun’s rays do not fall at all, are also not suitable – when the ultraviolet is lacking, the shoots begin to stretch and swell. Plant loses its beauty.

For Begonias, loose soil with neutral acid and alkaline reaction is optimal. It is best to prepare a place under Begonias since the autumn. For this, the plot is drunk, remove all the rhizomes of weeding herbs, make peat, river sand, overwhelmed compost or humus. In this case, the Earth will be nutritious, but at the same time breathable. Such conditions are considered the best for garden begonias.

For begonia, extremely dangerous overwhelming, so when landing should be unlikely to form a drain layer. As in the case of potted plants, small pebbles or claymzit are suitable here.

After planting the plant must be poured and inspired. This measure will allow you to keep the required amount of moisture and suspend the cutting of the Earth in the conditions of hot summer heat.

It is worth noting that begonias can easily plant for the same place for 5-7 years, because they almost do not deplete the soil.

Care

Begonia loves regular watering, but irrigation should be moderate. Watering the plant is better in the morning and evening hours so that the rays of the sun do not fall on the moisture drops remaining on the sheet plates and flowers (it can cause burns). It is desirable to alternate moisturizing by ordinary and weakly acid mineral water, especially this is beneficial to young, just planted plants. When using rigid water from under the tap, it is desirable for every 10 liters to add 1 teaspoon of table vinegar.

With excess watering or when exposed to direct sunlight, the plant may drop buds. In this case, it is necessary to reduce the volume of irrigation composition or change the habitat of the begonia, moved it together with an earthen room to another plot with more appropriate conditions.

In the natural medium, Begonia often becomes an object of attacking insect pests, like a wave and a web tick. TLL has a greenish color. Replace the spider tick more complicated – these are very small pests, but when they appear on the leaves and stems, whites are visible to the finest cings. Insects feed on the life of the plant, which leads to fading and fast flower death.

When pests are found, it is necessary to process begonia with a solution of economic soap. It is applied with a sponge on the leaves manually so as to physically remove all parasites. After a few hours, the flower is rinsed with warm water. For the prevention of pests, experienced flowers are recommended to spray begonia in the onion husk or tobacco.

During the entire spring age, you need to make fertilizer from time to time. Best use ready-made complex drugs for flowering plants. Conduct such feedstocks every two weeks.

Preparation for wintering

In natural conditions, Begonia refers to many years of evergreen cultures that continuously bloom in winter. Unfortunately, in the conditions of the middle strip of Russia, it is impossible, because the begonia should be removed on the winter from the street to prepare for further planting in the spring.

When the air temperature at night begins to drop below 15 degrees, garden begonia stops forming buds.

Inflorescences and leaves begin to dying and fall. At this moment (as a rule, in mid-September), it is necessary to neatly dig up from the lands of tubers, rinse them in warm water, and then dry in vivo. When tubers are completely delivered from the ground and dried, it is necessary to put them in a paper box or a wooden box, fall asleep with river sand and send to storage in the cellar or underground, where the air temperature keeps at 3-7 degrees.

Usage in landscape design

Begonia is ideal for creating stylish and spectacular flower arrangements. It combines well with many shrubs who prefer the half, and also well complements the lowest perennials. Most often, these flowers are combined with border plants such as Iberis, Lobuliary, Surfinia, Lobelia. A combination of begonias with garden lilies, cycroes or astrams looks very beautiful.

These flowers are often used to create rocaries, as well as alpine slides and garden flower beds with exclusive patterns, for landscaping terraces and outdoor sites. It can be said that street begonias look harmoniously with all garden crops, which is why the plant is so loved by designers in Russia and far beyond.
