Essenciale description

Essenciale – a drug from the group of phospholipid hepatoprotectors. It is used in the complex treatment of liver diseases. Contains vitamins, phospholipids and nicotinamide. Company manufacturer – A. Nuttermann & See GmbH, Germany.
The drug is available in capsules of 300 mg. Essential phospholipids are structural elements of cells and their organelles. In liver disease, they are damaged. The effects of the drug are aimed at improving hepatocytes and protecting them.
The components in the composition normalize the cellular structure of the liver, normalize metabolism, have a detoxifying effect. However, these effects have no evidence in the form of studies. Tests conducted show no positive effects of the substance on the liver in common diseases.
Phospholipid hepatoprotectors have few contraindications, are well tolerated, but receive mixed reviews from scientists and patients for taking them.
Studies and efficacy
It was previously suggested that phospholipids may be effective in alcohol disease and liver steanosis. However, studies conducted since 1989 show that the substances do not have any positive impact on the liver.
It has also been established that with viral hepatitis phospholipids should not be used, since they increase inflammation and congestion.
According to the manufacturer, Essenciale has many indications. Clinical studies do not confirm this, but the drug continues to be popular, which may be due to the placebo effect.
The Committee of RAMS put the preparation Essenciale in the list of popular preparations with unconfirmed efficiency.
