Neuromultivit and Milgamma quickly make up for vitamin deficiencies and have a beneficial effect on the nervous system. Against the background of therapy, the inflammatory process goes away, the destruction of tissues slows down, the condition of the patient improves. Both drugs increase local blood flow and accelerate the supply of oxygen to the cells.

The composition of the drug Milgamma also includes lidocaine. It is a local anesthetic that relieves pain, i.e. eliminates the main symptom of neurological diseases. Neuromultivit also relieves the pain syndrome, but only due to the included vitamin B 12. Therefore, the action of Neuromultivit is weaker, and it is not prescribed for a pronounced exacerbation of the process.

  1. Thiamine is rapidly absorbed from the injection site and enters the bloodstream, reaching its maximum in the first half hour. Passes through the blood-brain barrier and the placental barrier, and is found in breast milk. Of all the vitamins, it is retained in the tissues in the smallest amount.

  2. Pyridoxine binds to plasma proteins and is rapidly distributed to tissues. Permits through the placental and blood-brain barrier, passes into breast milk. Creates a depot in the liver.

  3. Cyanocobalamin forms complexes with transport protein in the blood, quickly adsorbed in the liver and bone marrow. Penetrates through the placental barrier.

  4. Lidocaine acts topically and does not enter the systemic bloodstream.

In modern medicine, it is customary to be guided by the evidence base. We study cochrane reviews, read scientific articles from reliable sources (e.g., the PubMed medical knowledge base), and evaluate a drug for its potential benefit. In an ideal world, a doctor should only prescribe a medication that has passed randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials and proven effective.

In practice, it’s not quite the same. Serious studies are long and expensive, so not all drug manufacturers do it. In Russia, the release and use of drugs without a proven basis is allowed. Our journal experts found no mention of Neuromultivit and Milgamma in the Cochrane Library. By international standards, these drugs are classified as drugs of unproven efficacy. But we turned to Russian-language sources and found there a different opinion about the drugs.

What experts write about Neuromultivit:

  1. B-group vitamins treat nerve tissue damage and start natural regeneration mechanisms. They involve the synthesis of components of the myelin sheath, restore its structure and reduce pain. In high doses – increase blood flow in the affected area.

  2. Neuromultivit is recommended as a means of basic therapy for vertebrogenic radiculopathy – damage of spinal cord roots against a background of spinal diseases.

  3. Neuromultivit will benefit from pain syndrome of different origin, including supportive therapy in cancer patients. Specialists advise using it together with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants.

  4. The use of Neuromultivit statistically significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment in degenerative diseases of the spine.

  5. Neuromultivit is recommended for diabetic and alcoholic neuropathy. The drug has been found to be well tolerated and can be used in the elderly.

  6. It is proved that the two-stage administration of Neuromultivit helps relieve pain and prevent the chronicity of the process. The authors of the article recommend first prescribing the drug intramuscularly and then switching to tablets.

Milgamma is also talked about on the Russian-language Internet:

  1. The results of the MIDIN study (2014) show that the drug is effective in treating diabetic polyneuropathy. The authors of the article advise to start with intramuscular injections with subsequent transition to the tablet form of the drug.

  2. Milgamma is recommended as the drug of choice for dorsopathy – back pain caused by various neurological diseases.

  3. The results of pharmacological studies show that Milgamma is really effective in pain syndrome in neurology (including acute pain). Pain subsides after 20 minutes of taking the drug, the effect lasts up to 20 hours.

  4. An open Russian multicenter research MINERVA showed the effectiveness of Milgamma in the complex treatment of neuropathy of various origins.

  5. There are studies confirming the positive effect of this drug in cases of sensorineural hearing loss.

Regimen of use

Neuromultivit and Milgamma are used in pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy of diseases of the nervous system. The indications for the prescription of the drugs are similar:

  1. Neuralgia and neuritis;

  2. facial nerve palsy;

  3. nerve ganglia lesions (including shingles);

  4. Polyneuropathy on the background of diabetes mellitus, alcoholic intoxication and other conditions;

  5. Nocturnal muscle cramps;

  6. Neurological manifestations of osteochondrosis, including back and neck pain, changes in muscle tone.

Milgamm contains lidocaine, so it is more often prescribed for acute pain – for example, in lumbar osteochondrosis, neuralgia of the facial nerve. Neuromultivit can be used in mild to moderate course of the disease when there is no pronounced pain syndrome.

Scheme of drug administration is similar. First the doctor prescribes Neuromultivit or Milgammu in the form of intramuscular injections. The dosage and the duration of intake depend on the severity of the disease. Gradually after the pain has subsided, the route of administration changes – the drug is administered less frequently, and the dosage is reduced. The course of injections lasts 10-20 days, after which the patient is transferred to a tablet form.


Neuromultivit and Milgamm are well tolerated. Side effects are rare and associated with individual intolerance to the drug. Against the background of treatment, such reactions can also occur:

Nausea, sometimes vomiting;

  1. tachycardia – rapid heartbeat;

  2. Increased sweating;

  3. dizziness;

  4. skin itching.

Milgamma sometimes provokes the appearance of seizures, especially in people who are predisposed to it.

When the drug is injected intramuscularly, there may be swelling, redness, irritation at the injection site. These symptoms go away quickly and do not require additional therapy. To avoid these reactions, the drug must be administered slowly and the dosage must be strictly observed.


Neuromultivit and Milgamma are not prescribed for these conditions:

  1. pregnancy and lactation;

  2. childhood age;

  3. severe heart pathology;

  4. Hypersensitivity (allergic reaction or severe side effects of a previous injection of the drug).
