Tape recorders “Yauza-5”, “Jauza- 206”, “Yauza-6” at one time were one of the best in the Soviet Union. They began to be produced more than 55 years ago, leaving pleasant memories not at one generation of music lovers. What characteristics and features there was such a technique? What differences there are descriptions of different models of “Jauza”? Let’s figure it out.

1958 was a landmark, began to fully work GOST 8088-56, which introduced the general characteristics for models of techniques produced by various enterprises. The general standard has reduced to one denominator all recording household audio. After that, a variety of models began to appear on the market, their quality has noticeably improved. It is important that the scrolling rate of the tape has become the same. The first stereo tape recorder “Yauza-10” in the series was launched in 1961. There were two speeds in this model – 19.06 and 9.54 cm / s, and frequency bands were 42-15100 and 62-10000 Hz.

The tape recorder coil and bobby do not have fundamental differences, they have a different layout of the magnetic film, but the scheme of work was similar. In the cassette tape recorder, the tape is in the container, you can remove the cassette at any convenient moment. Cassette tape recorders were compact, weighed a bit, the sound quality was at a high level. “They lasted” these devices until the mid-90s of the last century, leaving a good memory of themselves at once several generations of music lovers.

Bobble models can most often meet in studios, magnetic tape is able to convey the smallest nuances of sound impulses. Studio aggregates can work at high speeds and transfer the highest sound quality. Nowadays this technique again began to be used in recording companies. In the coil tape recorder can be up to three speeds, most often it was used in everyday life.

Film in the coil tape recorder is limited from two sides.

Review models

Tape recorder “Yauza-5” began to be produced in 1960, had a two-haired. She gave the opportunity to make recordings from a microphone and receiver. The transition to different paths was realized by rearrangement of coils. Each coil had 250 meters of film, it was enough for 23 and 46 minutes of sound. Soviet film was not better quality, preferred to use products of brands “BASF” or “AGFA”. The sale kit included:

  • 2 microphones (MD-42 or MD-48);
  • 3 coils with ferrimagnetic ribbon;
  • 2 fuse;
  • strap for fixation;
  • connection cable.

The product consisted of three blocks.

  1. Amplifier.
  2. Lental device.
  3. Frame.
  4. The tape recorder had two speakers.
  5. Resonance frequencies were 100 and 140 Hz.
  6. Dimensions of the device 386 x 376 x 216 mm. Weight of 11.9 kg.

Lamp tape recorder “Jauza-6” began to be made in 1968 in Moscow and immediately drew attention to users. The model was successful, repeatedly upgraded for 15 years. There were several modifications that did not differ fundamentally from each other.

This model was recognized by users and specialists of one of the most successful. She enjoyed well-deserved popularity and was in the trading network deficit. If you compare the “Jazuz-6” with the analogues of the companies “Grundig” or “Panasonic”, then the model did not give way to technical specifications. Audio signal could be recorded on two tremors from the receiver and microphone. There were two speeds in the unit.

  1. Parameters 377 x 322 x 179 mm.
  2. Weight 12.1 kg.

The ribbon mechanism was taken from “Jauza-5”, it was distinguished by reliability and resistance to. The model was portable, was a drawer like a case, the cover was joined. The model had two dynamics of 1GD-18. Included there was a microphone, cord, two coils with film. Sensitivity and input resistance:

  • microphone – 3.1 mV (0.5 MΩ);
  • receiver 25.2 mV (37.1 com);
  • Suiter 252 mV (0.5 MΩ).

Operating frequency range:

  1. Speed 9.54 cm / s 42-15000 Hz;
  2. Speed 4.77 cm / sec 64-7500 Hz.

Noise level for first speed did not exceed 42 dB, for the second speed, this figure varied around 45 dB mark. This corresponded to the level of global standards, was evaluated by users to the highest category. At the same time, the level of nonlinear deformations did not exceed 6%. The detonation coefficient was quite acceptable 0.31 – 0.42%, which corresponded to the level of global standards. The power was provided from the current 50 Hz, the voltage could be from 127 to 220 volts. Power from 80 W network.

The device was distinguished by reliability in the work and needed only in preventive repair.

The coil tape recorder “Yauza-206” was produced since 1971, it was an upgraded model of the second class “Yauza-206 ”. After GOST 12392-71 was introduced, there was a transition to a new tape “10”, the regulatory recording and playback devices were improved. The quality of the sound and other important characteristics after such modifications significantly improved.

A ribbon counter appeared, the number of tracks was 2 pieces.

  1. Speed 9.54 and 4.77 cm / s.
  2. Detonation level 9.54 cm / s ± 0.4%, 4.77 cm / s ± 0.5%.
  3. Frequency range at a speed of 9.54 cm / s – 6.12600 Hz, 4.77 cm / s 63 … 6310 Hz.
  4. Threshold of nonlinear distortion on LV 6%,
  5. Playback power 2.1 W.

Bass and high frequencies were equally well maintained, especially good sound was. For example, the compositions of the Pink Floyd group sounded almost perfectly perfect. As you can see, in the Soviet Union, high-quality tape recorders were produced, in their characteristics they did not inferior to foreign analogues. Traditionally, Soviet audio equipment had a significant drawback in terms of design and design.

After many decades, it is possible to state: the USSR was one of the advanced countries for the production of high-quality household audio.
