How to print on a printer from two sides?

Not always, users know how to print sheets on the printer from two sides in automatic mode. Bilateral printing allows you to save paper and provides a convenient layout of text when creating books or journal texts. Can be prepared in a brochure. Knowing how to configure a printer to automatic double-sided printing, you can enhance the functionality of the device used, rationally use your time and save clean paper. It does not depend on the color printer or black and white.

In the article we will tell about all the ways of double-sided printing and software settings for this purpose, and also learn how to connect and disable this feature.

Methods of double-sided seal

Among the usual printing devices that can be connected to a computer, not so many models of printers, which provide for an automatic duplex function. In addition to some models of laser and inkjet printers, the MFP has such a function in automatic mode, which provides for the two-way copy option on the scanner. There are several ways to make such a manipulation that should be known to be able to use them if necessary. Send to double-sided output the necessary information can be in different ways:

  • from a text editor in Word format;
  • in pdf format.

This feature can be:

  • automatic;
  • semi-automatic;
  • manual.

Using a text editor

Often when working in Word, you need to withdraw the text to the paper, typed independently, or the ready-made “Vordvsky” document transferred to the computer using a flash drive or downloaded from the Internet. To display information on two sides of the sheet, use special text editor tools. With their help, you can configure the correct duplex in automatic mode if there is a function of the printer. Double-sided processing may be required to print a large amount of information. In this case, it is better to use a high-speed printer. With it can be more rational to use paper.

To work it will be necessary to perform a number of actions.

  1. Open the necessary document in Word, after which you open the text editor menu, as shown in the picture.
  2. In the program menu, select the “Print” option.
  3. In the window that opens, select the device connected to the computer to which the Open “Vordsky” document will be sent (as it is possible to connect multiple printers to one PC).
  4. After that, activate the “Double-sided print” option, in which the sheet of paper will automatically roll over in the printer after printing on the text on one side and again fed to the printer with a clean side. To do this, opposite the window with the inscription “Double-sided print” should be tick.
  5. If you need to specify additional print options in the window, you need to fill all fields, then click on the “OK” button, which activates the printed device.
  6. If the printer supports the automatic duplex function before sending the entire multi-page document, you need to make a trial printout in manual mode. It will help to understand how to put sheets in the pallet, so that the seal is applied to the pure side, and not on the already printed text. After the test you need to remove the drafts, and you can start automatic two-way print.

Duplex in the printer is arranged on the principle of printing a book. First, the printing device transfers the text on the odd side, and then after the finished page is coup, the continuation of the text will print on a clean (even) side. In this case, the information will be placed on the paper sheet on the principle of the book list.

Printing a PDF document

If the document is not created in Word, but in PDF format, then in the usual way to send it to print in a text editor will not work. To work with it, you need to use special applications that allow you to work with such a format. It can be Adobe Reader DC or Adobe Acrobat DC. To use this or other software, you need to have it on a computer. If it is not, then you should first install such a program, and then start printing.

After starting the Adobe Acrobat DC or Adobe Reader DC application, you need to open a file in PDF format with information that you want to print. After that:

  • Click on it with the mouse, and in the window that opens, select the print function;
  • Then select the printer connected to the computer;
  • put in the “odd or even pages” window “odd” option;
  • Click on the “OK” button to start the printer.

When all the pure sheets from the printer pallet are printed on one side, you need to flip the pack of printed sheets to the back side, install the print parameter of the sheets “even” on the computer – and start printing again. We must wait until the printer will stop typing.

If the PDF program has the two-way print option, you need to activate it, and not a manual choice of even and odd sides. If not, then you will have to choose manually. In this case, you must first print one sheet to make sure that the paper lies in the pallet correctly, and the seal will be applied to the pure side of the sheet.

Manual method of bilateral print

If there is no automatic bilateral print option in the printer, you will have to use the manual printout on both sides, setting the necessary actions in the program.

As already mentioned, for this After opening the corresponding window, you must first specify the odd pages in the program setting and start printing. When all odd pages are printed, the sheets turn over the other side of the printer pallet, indicate the printing of even pages and launch the output.

On different models and stamps of printers, the configuration of double-sided printing may vary. Below is a step-by-step instruction for setting up the most famous printer brands.

Canon printers

Setup is carried out via the Canon My Printer Device Control Panel. It defines the following parameters:

  • paper thickness;
  • Sheet format;
  • Distance for indent around the edges.

These are the basic settings for any method of paper output. Without them, the printer function will be inactive.

After the basic setting, a file that needs to be displayed on paper. The “Print” option is selected in the text editor. In this tab, select the appropriate parameters.

In the line of Canon printers there are models with automatic double-sided seal. They should have a duplex option, which is ticking, after which the document is sent to print.

HP printers

First the file is revealed, it is selected in it and its “properties”. In properties you need to enable the Layout option, in it – the print function on two sides of Print on Both Sides. After that, you must specify the page format or how it will display information on it.

The Binding Side option allows you to have information as in the book. The Binding On Top option provides text output on the back of the leaf in the opposite direction, as in the tear calendar. Only after selecting the print form, you can click on the “Print” button.

Kyocera printers

When configuring the printer properties for this model, you will need to select Manual Duplex Printing and specify which side will be binding. After that you can start printing. After all the sheets on one side are printed, they are unfolding down the printed side and continue the seal on the second side.

How to put paper?

For each model of printers, lay the A4 sheets in the pallet you need differently. Before starting the operation on the second side, you should run the test print of one sheet to properly put sheets.

You can make a marking pencil on one sheet, skip it through the printer, and then see where there will be a mark. The coup of the sheets will also depend on the location of the mark. If the mark remains on top, the sheet stack will need to turn over in the pallet, changing the position of the upper and lower edges. If the mark after printing the sheet turned out to be below, the sheets turn over the sheets.

To properly output printing on the second side of the sheet with a mark should be placed so that after printing the mark has turned out to be below.

In the next video, it is described how to print on a printer from two sides.
